David A. Weaver.

David A. Weaver, a former Douglas County Sheriff, began his service career in the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office 33 years ago. He is an experienced leader who believes in strong fiscal accountability, service excellence, integrity and community partnerships.

Weaver is the 2016 Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. He was sworn in as Douglas County Commissioner, District I, on July 21, 2014, filing a vacancy. Weaver was subsequently elected to the position in November 2014 and began serving his own term January 2015

He was recently named the 2015 Freshman Commissioner of the Year by Colorado Counties Inc.

In addition to his responsibilities directly linked to his work as a County Commissioner, he also serves on the Castle Pines Chamber Board of Directors and the Douglas County Educational Foundation Board of Directors, and has previously served on the Douglas County Fair Board. As well, he is a former Parker Rotarian and Castle Rock Kiwanis Club member.

Weaver serves on the following statewide and national organizations: Colorado Children Youth and Families Prevention Steering Committee; Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice; Colorado Counties Inc., Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee (2016 chair); Colorado Criminal Juvenile Justice Committee; Colorado Department of Human Services Child Welfare Prevention Steering Committee; and the National Association of Counties Justice & Public Safety Committee and Cyber Security Task Force.

He supports a healthy, balanced approach to maintaining the quality of life we enjoy in Douglas County to include preserving the beauty of our rural, agricultural and ranching areas while simultaneously focusing on viable and quality growth in the urban corridors.

Weaver’s education is rooted in management, ethics, and criminal justice. He is a graduate of the Leadership Program of the Rockies and Leadership Douglas County; a graduate of the Southwest Command School and a graduate of the 91st National Sheriff’s Institute. He also is a 2004 honor graduate of the FBI 216th National Academy.

Dave and his wife of 30 years, Mona, have three sons and two grandchildren.
